111 miles is the length of the Dingle Way and 80 miles is the Beara Way, so the first difference is 4 walking days versus 6. Both are waymarked loops with Atlantic coast, but beds and buses differ sharply. Fiona MacLeod in our studio places first-time Ireland walkers on one or the other using 5 practical tests.
31 Miles Separates the Two Loops

31 miles is the gap between the 111-mile Dingle loop and the 80-mile Beara loop. Dingle needs 7 to 8 walking days, Beara needs 5 to 6. You finish Dingle in Dingle town with full services, Beara in Glengarriff or Kenmare.
14 miles is the average Dingle day, 13 miles the Beara average. Both stay under 500 meters of daily ascent except one pass day each. We cap pass days at 12 miles.
500 Meters Is the Hardest Single Climb on Either
500 meters is the Masatiompan and Knockmore-type ascent band both routes touch once. Dingle has more road walking at 40 percent, Beara more boreen and hill path at 60 percent. You choose tarmac tolerance versus navigation appetite.
| Factor | Dingle Way | Beara Way |
|---|---|---|
| Miles | 111 | 80 |
| Days | 7 to 8 | 5 to 6 |
| Road share | 40 percent | 25 percent |
| 2026 price | 980 to 1,250 GBP | 760 to 990 GBP |
40 percent road on Dingle surprises walkers who expect trail throughout. You wear road-capable soles and plan foot care. We schedule pub lunch stops every 6 to 8 miles to break the tarmac.
220 GBP Separates Typical 2026 Trip Prices
220 GBP is the average gap between our 2026 Dingle and Beara quotes for the same room grade. Dingle runs 980 to 1,250 GBP per person for 7 to 8 nights. Beara runs 760 to 990 GBP for 5 to 6 nights, both with luggage moves.
110 GBP per room is the typical B and B rate on both peninsulas. Dingle town charges 20 GBP more in August. We state each night rate so you see where the total comes from.
2 Buses per Day Is the Beara Constraint
2 buses per day is all some Beara stages get outside July and August. Dingle has 3 to 5 daily links between Tralee, Dingle and Dunquin. Missed connections on Beara mean a 30 to 50 GBP taxi.
50 GBP is the longest Beara backup taxi we plan, from Allihies to Castletownbere. You keep that number on your route card. We check seasonal timetables 14 days before travel.
6 Days Is the Decision Rule We Use
6 days of leave points to Beara, 8 days points to Dingle, and 7 days is a toss-up we resolve by fitness. Walkers who want pubs every night pick Dingle. Walkers who want quiet hills pick Beara.
2 business days is our time to send a side-by-side draft with named overnights for either. Fiona MacLeod checks ferry-free logistics and pass weather notes. You get one recommendation, not two vague options.
